Better informed employees do a better job. That’s the theory behind Team Brain Power’s educational lecture series for Sierra Neurosurgery Group employees. Team Brain Power is hosting these informational lectures on a variety of medical topics during company hours for all interested employees.

Lectures are presented by Sierra Neurosurgery Group physicians and nurse practitioners in an informal group setting where employees can ask questions. To date, lecture topics have include an overview of the artificial disc, presented by Dr. Joseph Walker, and a primer on traumatic head injury, presented by Wren Ballard, APN. Videotaped recordings of these lectures will soon be available at sierraneurosurgery.com for employees who couldn’t make the presentation, as well as interested patients or physicians.

Dyana Selby-Davis, Sierra Neurosurgery Group’s Health Information Management Supervisor and a member of Team Brain Power, has attended both lectures. “The response from the staff has been very positive,” states Selby-Davis. “Many of us don’t work directly with patients, but would like a better understanding of the work our doctors and nurses do. These lectures are providing that background.”

Team Brain Power is a revolving committee of Sierra Neurosurgery Group employees committed to creating the most rewarding work environment possible. Brain Power sponsored activities include charitable work, social functions and continuing education.
