Dr. Fleming and team to educate RNs on Post-operative Craniotomy Care

Reno, NV–Dr. Hilari Fleming, MD, PhD of Sierra Neurosurgery Group, along with APNs Wren Ballard and Christine Canner-Peterson, will present a seminar on “Post-operative Care of Craniotomy Patients” to registered nurses at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center this October.

Topics covered during the three and a half hour session will include the neuro assessment, post-op care on the Med/Surg Unit, and essential things ICU nurses need to know about post-craniotomy care. Sessions will be held October 7 in Saint Mary’s Day Auditorium and October 19 in Saint Mary’s Wells Fargo Auditorium, from 1:30-5pm each day.

Due to high demand, this seminar is limited to Saint Mary’s RNs and is mandatory for Saint Mary’s Orthopedic RNs. Each session is approved for three contact hours by the Nevada State Board of Nursing. To register, contact Saint Mary’s Nursing Operations at 770-3012.

Dr. Hilari Fleming is a Board Certified Neurosurgeon who has been in practice for over 18 years. She is one of just a handful of female neurosurgeons in the West and specializes in the treatment of tumors that impact the brain. Dr. Fleming will be presenting with Sierra Neurosurgery Group nurses Christine Canner-Peterson and Wren Ballard. Both Wren and Christine are experienced educators and lectures who began their nursing careers working in intensive care before moving into neurosurgery. Sierra Neurosurgery Group is the region’s largest and longest standing practice specializing in the treatment of spine and brain disorders.
