Sept. 19, 2006 – Neurosurgeon Jay K. Morgan, M.D. of Sierra Neurosurgery Group in Reno was quoted as an expert in a Reno Gazette Journal article about cerebral aneurysms.
Dr. Morgan explained some of the mystery surrounding cerebral aneurysms in the September 19, 2006 Health section of the Reno Gazette Journal. Morgan is an expert on brain disease who studied cerebral aneurysm as a sub-specialty.
The idea of cerebral aneurysm as a “ticking time bomb” is incorrect, according to Morgan. The condition can result from a number of predictable factors including genetics, gender, race, hypertension, diabetes and previous aneurysm.
Morgan offers this advice to patients diagnosed with cerebral aneurysm. “Don’t panic . . . it’s not as evil a structure as you might think,” advises Dr. Morgan.
He explains that most aneurysms are less than 5-7mmm and rarely rupture. And when surgical intervention is indicated, experienced surgeons like Morgan can alleviate pressure and prevent rupture.
Dr. Morgan is a partner at Sierra Neurosurgery Group in Reno, Nevada. Sierra Neurosurgery Group has provided exceptional neurosurgical care to residents of Northern Nevada and Northeastern California for nearly 30 years.
