May 17, 2007 – Early on the morning of May 5, a group of Sierra Neurosurgery Group staffers pulled on their sweatshirts, grabbed their to-go cups of java and hit the Sparks Marina to raise money and awareness for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. SNG’s team Brain Power joined 500 other participants at the 19th Annual MS Walk® and helped raise nearly $80,000 for the treatment and research of multiple sclerosis.
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic and often disabling disease of the central nervous system and has no known cause or cure. Symptoms include blurred vision, loss of balance, memory problems, paralysis and blindness.
The local MS chapter serves almost 6,000 people whose lives are affected by the disease in Northern Nevada and northeastern California.
Sierra Neurosurgery Group’s participation in the walk will provide advocacy and support for local programs designed to improve the lives of people living with multiple sclerosis. Sierra Neurosurgery Group’s contribution will also help fund research geared toward finding a cause and cure for the disease.
For nearly 30 years, Sierra Neurosurgery Group has provided innovative and exceptional care to the residents of Northern Nevada and Northern California. Sierra Neurosurgery Group’ is the region’s oldest continuously operating group of neurosurgeons specializing in the treatment of brain, spinal and peripheral nerve disorders.
