Dr. Morgan, I was blessed to find you
A year ago, I couldn’t walk without crying from the pain. Turning over in bed was out of the question. Then, I saw Dr. Jay Morgan. He literally saved my life. Dr. Morgan is the most capable, caring and incredible doctor I have ever been to. This man is truly insightful and is willing to learn and then know what his patients need to feel better and have their lives back. I was blessed to find you and am forever grateful. Thank you Dr. Morgan. — Nancy B.
Dr. Leppla, I don’t know how to thank you enough for taking care of me.
My surgery went very well and I believe I am recovering quicker than expected. My pain level as of now is just more than minimal and very bearable. I am walking frequently without the walker on day 10. You are a God send to not only me, but my wife and family as well. You are the BEST!! –– Ryan T.
Dr. Sekhon and his associates were fantastic
I had a lower back fusion, etc. They were very hands on and attentive, did what they said they would do and the followup has been superior. I would recommend them to anyone in need of consultation and/or surgery. — Mary F.
Dr Sekhon is one of the finest surgeons in the West.
He is very conservative and patient oriented. His training in Australia, Canada and the United States has been outstanding. I saw him 10 years ago for a 4 level spinal fusion which has bee extremely successful and currently have another back problem which he advised waiting as surgery was not necessary at this time. He is the only one I recommend to others. — Richard L
Thank you Dr. Sekhon
I have the greatest appreciation for the professional and friendly experience with Dr. Sekhon and his staff. — Charles P
Dr Sekhon is an incredible neurosurgeon specializing in Neck and Back surgery.
Also Greg Graves is remarkable as one of his two P.A.’s. No pain and or problems at any point regarding the surgery. – Rick
I knew I found the perfect surgeon for me
I had a lumbar spinal fusion, and it is now 5 months post-op. My pain level is virtually non-existent, I have gotten back to many of the activities I enjoyed before the pain set in, and I feel joy once again. From the moment I met Dr. Sekhon, I knew I found the perfect surgeon for me. He spent 45 minutes with my husband and I during my initial consult. He is extremely compassionate, thoughtful, and confident in how he can help his patients and their caregivers. Never did I feel a sense of arrogance that many surgeons have, and never did I feel unsure of his surgical abilities. I felt as if he truly cared about restoring my quality of life. Dr. Sekhon, Greg (PA), and Curt (PA) came to see me a total of 8 times in the two day hospital stay- amazing patient care and follow up. Greg came by and called when he said he would, and Curt has taken care of me since I returned home. He is a very genuine person who listens to me, and he responds quickly through the portal or a phone call. Allison, the scheduler, was extremely helpful in advising me of all the things needed before the surgery, and she was always quick to answer an email or phone call. Each visit to Dr. Sekhon’s office was smooth, no long wait times, yet I never felt rushed by anyone. I didn’t think it was possible to have such an amazing surgical experience, but I found it with Dr. Sekhon and his team. — Leigh L, San Francisco, CA
I can say that there was immediate relief of pain with both surgeries.
In September of 2016 Dr. Sekhon did an Anterior Cervical Decompression with Fusion at C5-C7. Then in April of 2017 Dr. Sekhon also did a Semi Hemispherical Laminectomy with Microdiscectomy at L5-S1. While I am still healing, I can say that there was immediate relief of pain with both surgeries. The post-op pain was fairly minimal all things considered, easily manageable with the prescribed medication. While not important to me personally, the scarring from the neck surgery is barely noticeable and I suspect after some time will become even less so. It is too soon to tell how the back incision will heal, but I do have a tattoo that had to be cut in order to perform the surgery and Dr. Sekhon definitely took the time to line everything back up to make it look as inconspicuous as possible. Curt Erikson PA-C, one of Dr. Sekhon’s assistants, is a great help, and always takes the time to cover any additional concerns or questions that you may have. Greg Graves PA is also very quick to respond. The entire office staff, from scheduling to admission and billing are always extremely polite, professional and helpful. I would highly recommend Sierra Neurosurgery Group and Dr. Sekhon. I would also like to thank Allison, Tiffany, Jennifer and all the rest of the office staff that I may and probably have forgotten. I believe that the dedication, training and commitment to excellence shine bright with this team and I will always remember how great my experience with them has been. There is no doubt that if I have another injury requiring surgery, I will be praying it is one Dr. Sekhon and his team can do. — Nicholas S.
I was obviously in the hands of a skilled team
Very fortunate to have a superb surgeon operate on me for a subdural hematoma. I was obviously in the hands of a skilled team and continue to have a successful recovery. My sincere thanks to Dr. Sekhon, Greg Graves and Curt Erickson for a job well done. — Herbert W., Reno, NV
My only regret is that I didn’t see Dr. Sekhon First
I wanted to wait a full year before my testimonial because my two previous surgeries failed within a years period. My previous surgeries were performed by a popular non evasive surgeon in RENO NV. He put in a ILIF that he is big on come to find out no one uses those anymore. Dr Sekhon looked at my MRI and could tell exactly where this Doctor had been hacking. Dr. Sekhon advised me what I needed and what my limitations would be and what I could and couldn’t do and also my options. There was no pressure and the decision was totally up to me. I elected to go with the surgery and am I ever glad I did. After surgery i was pain free and have remained pain free. In fact I have not felt this good in many years and i have to constantly remind myself not to do certain things because there is no pain to remind me. He removed the ILIF and performed a four level fusion. He came to my room the next day to see how I was doing with his assistant. I never saw the previous surgeon even after four office visits. His office continued to check up on me while in the hospital. And when it came time to check out he made sure i was released promptly by calling the nurses, unheard of with my experiences. My only regret is that I didn’t see him first. I am very grateful and fortunate that he was in my area to perform the surgery. I HIGHLY recommend him. — Steve B.
Dr Sekhon is a jewel
Two months ago, I had lower back fusion surgery with six screws and bolts, etc for chronic back pain. The morning after a late surgery the day before I was walking the halls of the hospital with the aid of a walker. I have had NO more back pain (only surgery healing pain for a while). Dr Sekhon is a jewel. My husband and I have never met a more professional, competent physician. He and his PA and office staff are all extremely competent, respectful and thorough. If you’ve never received a followup packet from a doctor after your FIRST visit, as had been our experience, you WILL receive one from Dr Sekhon soon after your first visit to him. Amazing! I highly recommend him and will go back to him when/if I need further neurosurgery. — Susan W., Reno, NV
From the moment I was referred to Dr. Sekhon, he and his office staff were exceptional.
Allison, his scheduler, responded quickly by phone and email.
Dr. Sekhon spent 45 minutes with my husband and I at our initial consultation, and his calm demeanor put me at ease immediately. He erased my fears and showed great confidence in his ability to help me ( confidence is different than arrogance!). I decided to schedule the spinal fusion after years of failed attempts at other therapies. His two PA’s are just phenomenal. Curt responds within just a few hours of calls or emails. My visits with him have been thorough. He even came to see me in the hospital, even though he wasn’t in my surgery. Greg, the PA who was in my surgery, was extremely attentive to my needs. He came to see my 5 times in my two day hospital stay. He called when he said he would call me after I went home. Dr. Sekhon and his team visited me over 8 times in two days following my surgery- that’s the ultimate in patient care! I had zero complications, so I would imagine that if I did, they would have come more frequently. I am now 11 weeks post-op, and I could not be more pleased with the results of Dr. Sekhon’s surgery. I went back to work at 9 weeks (I’m a teacher), and it was perfect timing. I trusted Dr. Sekhon from the moment I met him. I saw another spinal practice before Dr. Sekhon, and I am so glad I decided on Dr. Sekhon. He will be honest with you, give you all your options, help you think about potential issues in the future with each option, and allow you time and space to make your decision. Dr. Sekhon is very conservative in his approach. I felt he, and his staff, truly cared about me and the surgical outcomes. You owe it to yourself to go to the best neurosurgeon in Reno. — Leigh L., Reno NV
I would recommend Dr. Sekhon to anyone
I had a laminectomy and a synovial cyst removed in May, 2016. Dr. Sekhon was very knowledgeable and professional and diagnosed the problem promptly. I was in a lot of pain and he got me into surgery without waiting, the surgery went well, I stayed overnight in the hospital and went home the next day. I was able to communicate with his assistant, Greg, whenever I had any questions which was comforting. After a few months I was completely out of pain and have been fine since. I was really impressed with Dr. Sekhon’s training at the Mayo Clinic, his career teaching neurosurgery, and referrals from friends. I would recommend Dr. Sekhon to anyone who is concerned about having a successful surgery. — Judy M
Can’t say enough about Dr. Sekhon
Severe neck issues. Fused C3 to T1. Was very fortunate to see Dr. Sekhon. If you canvas the medical community, Dr. Sekhon is highly a recommended neurosurgeon. The operation was very successful and my recovery ahead of schedule. Can’t say enough about Dr. Sekhon. Also, can’t say enough about his staff. They were very attentive to my needs and extremely pleasant to deal with. — Gerald D.
I was very satisfied with my experience with Dr. Sekhon.
Every one in his office were very professional. His recommendations for treatment has been outstanding. I would recommend him to anyone that would need his type of medical help. — Frank S.
I have now had my second spinal fusion with Dr. Sekhon.
The first time, I waited too long and was in so much pain I couldn’t even sleep. Fusion of the L4-5 removed the pain instantly. I was amazed at how energized I felt and that I could return to all previous activities. Ten years passed, and I’ve now had the L3-4 fused. The healing process seems easier than before; perhaps due to improved hardware. Dr. Sekhon is skillful, knowledgeable and considerate. He listens to concerns and answers all questions. I felt safe and secure knowing my surgery would turn out well. Dr. Sekhon will guide his patients through the best course of action; I highly recommend him. — Ellen M.
I would rank Dr. Sekhon as one of the best I have experienced
I was already scheduled for cervical surgery before I found Dr. Sekhon. Due to the region of surgery, I contacted several doctor friends, PT facilities, and personal research on orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons in Northern California. Dr. Sekhon’s name came up several times. After reading several independent articles on Dr. Sekhon, I made an appointment to see (interview) him. He was extremely professional, demonstrated a sincere interest in my situation, was honest about my expectations of success AND what might not work. Additionally, his staff was responsive. I ended up cancelling my surgery with another doctor and went with Dr. Sekhon.
Dr. Sekhon was able to heal my situation and the facility, Northern Nevada Medical Center were fantastic.
I have had over 15 surgeries in my life so I feel somewhat “experienced” with doctors. I would rank Dr. Sekhon as one of the best I have experienced. I would highly recommend speaking with Dr. Sekhon and assess him and his staff for yourself. — John G.
I would recommend Dr. Sekhon
Neck surgery in Oct. 2016 was mostly pain free and was in & out of the hospital in 18 hours. No problems experienced other than having to stay free of any activity for a couple of weeks. 90 days later and life is back to normal except skiing & similar activities, until a full year has passed. Greg is very knowledgeable on any questions and also guides you on getting through the first 90 days, so you don’t over do activities, when you feel like you can. I would recommend Dr. Sekhon to anyone seeking a needed surgery for neck or spine issues. — John
I will never go anywhere else…a testimony to Dr. Sekhon’s expertise
I referred myself to Dr. Sekhon because I was in severe pain. I had x-rays and an MRI done, and had been waiting two weeks just for a consultation somewhere else (with one more week to go). After sending the results of my tests to his office, he reviewed them and made time in his very busy schedule to see me the next day. He is obviously a very compassionate and conscientious doctor because, after recognizing the extent of my problem and pain, I was scheduled for surgery within two weeks – Anterior Cervical Decompression and Instrumental Fusion.
At seven weeks post-op, I am virtually symptom free, a testimony to Dr. Sekhon’s expertise. Thank you so much Dr. Sekhon, Greg (his PA,) and the wonderful and competent staff at SNG! For a spine problem, I will never go anywhere else. — Carolyn L.
I will forever be grateful for Dr. Sekhon’s quick action and caring
I saw Dr. Sekhon the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and had surgery the following Tuesday. He saw that I was in a very bad position on the verge of having my spinal cord break and becoming paralyzed, and took the immediate steps necessary to repair the damage. I will forever be grateful for his quick action and caring attitude and do not know how to thank a man who has given me so much. I have felt the same care in all of my follow up meetings with Dr. Sekhon and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing neurosurgery. — Helen
Dr. Sekhon has given me my life back – no exaggeration!
After treating with physical therapists and pain management docs for 15+ months at Spine Nevada for chronic lumbar spine issues, I was scheduled for a 5-level back surgery without ever being given the opportunity to meet my surgeon. I was told I would be able to “consult” with Dr. Lynch for the first time on the day of surgery during pre-op, which was unreasonable and unacceptable! Fortunately, I made the wise decision to cancel the surgery and get a second opinion.
I was thereafter referred to Dr. Lali Sekhon, MD, whom I researched online, and was pleased to discover he is widely respected as a brilliant spinal surgeon and educator. I was able to meet and consult with Dr. Sekhon personally within two days of calling his office. Having already carefully reviewed all of my records, Dr. Sekhon provided me with a comprehensive opinion concerning the medical options and potential outcomes. Dr. Sekhon thoroughly, and patiently, answered all of my questions, and with his caring demeanor, I immediately felt secure that I was in the best hands possible.
Dr. Sekhon performed my challenging spinal surgery, and after a 6-week recovery, I am virtually symptom and pain free for the first time since suffering serious back injuries in a 1992 rear-end car accident. Dr. Sekhon has given me my life back – no exaggeration!
I would recommend Dr. Sekhon and his knowledgeable staff to anyone, without hesitation. — Dana T.
I would just like to say ‘thank you’ to Dante F. Vacca, MD.
Dr. Vacca took my wife within hours into surgery after she was taken to Renown. She was diagnosed with a large, non-cancerous brain tumor in the center of her brain. Surgery took eight hours (it seemed like eight days to me). Before the surgery Dr. Vacca told me that he believed he could remove the tumor but because of the depth of it in the brain, he didn’t know if there would be, or how bad the brain damage could be. November 30th will be ten years, and she is still going strong. No signs of the surgery. She is physically perfect, no memory loss, no speech problems, NOTHING. Dr. Vacca you brought my wife back from death and gave us many, many years of happiness with many years to come.
Thank you. — Archie G.
I cannot even think of the words to describe just how grateful I am for Dr. Demers
There is something special about a physician when you meet his NP and him for a total of 40 minutes and they make you feel comfortable about proceeding with surgery in 48 hours. Without going into my history, I went from scheduling hip surgery to having back surgery for a herniated disc. Dr. Demers’ office staff was wonderful in getting me in quickly and I cannot say enough about what wonderful people they are.
I met Dr. Demers on Monday and was having surgery on Wednesday. Dr. Demers is a top notch surgeon. He explained everything! Even writing this testimony I cannot even think of the words to describe just how grateful I am for Dr. Demers. He is truly one of a kind. — Stephanie S.

Dr. Sekhon is a very good and sensitive listener, unusually knowledgable, very thorough, and pleasant as well. He is cautious about recommending surgery. — Paul L.
A wonderful doctor and staff
I was referred to Dr. Sekhon by the VA hospital in Reno, NV. Within two weeks I was seen by the doctor and had an excellent review. All options were discussed with both myself and my wife. Within another week I was operated on due to the extent of the problem. Since then there has been six weeks of PT and now has been three months since the surgery and I am doing very well. This has been a very pleasing experience and a wonderful doctor and staff to work with. — Thank you to all at Dr. Sekhon’s Office. Fred
I could have not chosen a more qualified surgeon
Dr. Sekhon performed laminectomy surgery on my lumbar spine and carpal tunnel surgery on my right wrist. The deficits I experienced, due to lower back stenosis were considerable. Pain in my lower back and stumbling. Post surgery, my pain is nearly gone. Stumbling is non-existent. My wrist pain is gone. Dr. Sekhon is a excellent surgeon. His staff is very helpful and friendly. Dr. Sekhon’s PA , Greg Graves, was a stalwart of support to me in all aspects of my recovery. I could have not chosen a more qualified surgeon. I’m four months post surgery. — Sincerely, Bobby B
Dr. Vacca, I just wanted to thank you again for the work you did!
Dr. Vacca, On 10/8/2010 you performed brain surgery on me to remove the glioblastoma stage four tumor prior to radiation and chemo. On November 16, 2011 all treatments were completed. My last MRI was done on November 3, 2014 and it didn’t show any recurrence of the tumor.
I just wanted to thank you again for the work you did! I pray you are well and still performing surgeries.
So many wonderful people played a role in my healing! I never want to forget to show my appreciation for the amazing people like you and others who make a difference in so many lives. — Sincerely, Dwayne T.

Dr. Sekhon is a great surgeon and his PA, Greg, is wonderful.
I had disc fusion and laminetomy surgery the end of March and am now pain free. Dr. Sekhon and his staff are wonderful – professional, helpful, and always there to help. Dr. Sekhon spent time before the surgery to explain the procedure, what to expect during the hospital stay and once I got home. So far, he’s been spot on. I’m currently at 3 months post op and feel great. Dr. Sekhon is a great surgeon and his PA, Greg, is wonderful. I’m so glad they were my surgery team! — Mary A.
I would strongly encourage anyone seeking neurosurgery to see Dr. Sekhon
I saw Dr. Sekhon as a referral from another physician who was treating me for back and spinal issues after seeing that I was now having structural deformities and my situation was more than just pain management. That physician told me that he would only refer his patients to Dr. Sekhon and no other neurosurgeon in the area. He also said that if he had to have back surgery that Dr. Sekhon would be the only one he would go to for the surgery.
After my MRI was submitted to Dr. Sekhon and reviewed I was called by his office to set up an appointment. His appointments were booked about 2 months out at the time so I made an appointment. I was called right before Christmas and told that there was a cancellation and asked if I could come in the next day, which I did. Dr. Sekhon showed me the MRI and how three of my discs were crushing my spinal column. He told me that unless I had the surgery soon that the nerves would die and I would suffer paralysis. He was very good in explaining everything that would happen during the surgery and post-op recovery and physical therapy afterwards. His explanations were so thorough that I had no questions to ask. I then called the next day to schedule surgery which was set for 4 weeks in the future.
The surgery was performed as scheduled. When I woke up in the recovery room most of my back and leg pain was already gone and some of the structural issues were already being resolved. He visited me twice in the hospital and explained what happened during surgery and assessed my current condition.
I was then set up with follow up appointments about 6 weeks apart to assess the status of my recovery and was put on a physical therapy program. I was also taken off all of the drugs that I had been taking for years as I no longer needed them. I no longer have any back pain or leg pain and the physical therapy is now restoring my functions that had been severely impeded in the 4+ years before my surgery.
I would strongly encourage anyone seeking neurosurgery to see Dr. Sekhon first before getting a second opinion. In retrospect, I should have seen Dr. Sekhon earlier and could have relieved a lot of pain and suffering that I needlessly endured for over 4 years. — Alan
The team was great, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
My surgery went great for me, I have had little to no pain throughout my recovery process. Dr. Sekhon is the best in my eyes. He is thorough and precise, friendly and caring. i am about to start PT and feel I can reach my goals. Over all I would gladly recommend their services to any of my friends here in Nevada. — Carol K.
I highly recommend Dr. Khosla
I am a 2012 Afghanistan Vet who blew a disk and fractured a vertebra while I was deployed. The VA didn’t grant me surgery until May 2015 but when I was finally put in for surgery I was referred to Dr. Khosla by other doctors and nurses whom have had surgeries by Dr. Khosla.
Two outstanding character traits Dr. Khosla has are patience & humility. I instantly felt safe & confident when I met him the first time even though the meeting was brief. He also took the time to see me every day at the hospital until he released me.
I am 12 days removed from an L5-S1 surgery and I am already able to walk a mile. I’m just determined to be in better shape than I was before the injury, I guess.
I highly recommend him. Dr. Khosla – Patient, Humble and an Exceptionally skilled surgeon.
And his entire staff is fantastic. They have been quick at replying to my emails (within 24hours). Props to Andrew for putting up with all the military and VA forms. You’re the man.
By the work from Dr. Khosla’s hands and by the abounding grace of God, I am free from narcotics and the bad pain I was in. — Benjamin M.
Dr. Sekhon has been treating my L4/5 spine degeneration for the last 3 years.
His approach has always been full disclosure of the risks and rewards of each procedure. Working in conjunction with a pain specialist, we have been able to stabilize my back with minimal surgical intervention. Last year my wife developed severe leg pain and after a failed surgery at another facility, I took her to see Dr. Sekhon. He knew immediately what the problem was and within 4 days she was in his operating room.
Her recovery has been rapid and steady. She recently was able to return to golf; something we weren’t sure would ever happen again.
Sierra Neurosurgery gave us both our lives back. We will be forever grateful to Dr. Sekhon and his staff. — Steve and Toni D.
I recommend Dr. Sekhon to anyone considering surgery

I am so thankful I chose Dr. Demers as my neurosurgeon
Today, is Friday, April 8.
I had a terrible fall 3/2/16. I tried toughing it out with heavy doses of Anti-inflamatories, Toradol shots, Percocet, etc. (I never ever take this stuff either as I’m a busy mother of 3). After 32 days of suffering, I met with Dr. Christopher Demers. He realized the severity of my pain, made a place in his busy schedule for me TWO DAYS LATER, and I came home that same night.
I’m less than 24 hours out of surgery and I can say that I’m nearly 98% better already. My scar is minimal, I can stand straight up, the pains down my leg are gone and I can finally sit without any pain.
Sierra Neurosurgery Group has a fantastic, empathetic staff. I was in contact with at least 8 people who diligently worked to get my surgery approved via my insurance company, get all my blood work ordered, my EKG ordered, etc. I am so thankful I chose Dr. Demers as my neurosurgeon. He has given me a gift of a lifetime. — Suzy R.
The Dawn of new life
Dr. Dawn Waters that is. Over time I began having trouble with my balance and coordination and then within a couple weeks it came on strong and I found myself one day unable to get out of bed without falling. MRI’s revealed a brain tumor in the cerebellum/brain stem area. Somehow someway fate brought to me a hot shot surgeon from Stanford and new to Reno, Dr. Dawn Waters. She explained to me in detail what it was I had and how she was going to remove it. Professional, yet caring and pleasant. Made me comfortable in a scary situation. It went perfectly. Over a year later now, it’s gone and I can do everything I could do before and more! I actually feel younger. A big thanks to all the staff in Reno, I get in and out quickly for appointments; and everyone there are really nice people.
Oh how I love the “Dawn” of everyday — K Dub
How fortunate I am to have found Dr. Sekhon for the second surgery
I would like to say how fortunate I am to have found Dr. Sekhon for the second surgery I was needing from complications due to a previous surgery 17 years earlier. I have referred about 6 new possible patients to him as of now, and plan to refer anyone I meet along my path to Dr. Sekhon. Also, I would like to mention that his surgical assistant Greg is a wonderful combination with Dr. Sekhon. Both exude all the professionalism, sincerity and last but not least of all masterful skill in their field of neurological medicine unlike no other I’ve come across in my 46 years. — Nai S.
I am so glad Dr Sekhon was my surgeon
I visited two surgeons 8 years ago but didn’t proceed since it was a major fusion surgery and I hoped the procedures would improve over time. I consulted two surgeons again in January 2016. Dr. Sekhon was clear and straightforward in his evaluation. He gave me a more conservative surgery option than the other surgeon I consulted. The surgery included a L4-L5 decompressive laminectomy, bilateral foraminotomies and posterior lumbar fusion. I always had some daily back pain plus my back would “go out” every couple months. The last few years I also had pain down my legs from my sciatic nerves. After the surgery, I had no pain down my legs and my previous aching back pain was gone. The pain from the surgery improved every week. As soon as I was released from the hospital, I was walking on my own and now at week seven of recovery, I walk and have started using an exercise bike every day. Dr Sekhon, his assistant Greg and staff always gave the care, concern and information I needed. I like to be active but always had my back pain limiting my activities. I recently retired and I know this surgery will help me continue to enjoy an active lifestyle. I am so glad Dr Sekhon was my surgeon. I believe selecting the right surgeon is key to back surgery and I would recommend Dr Sekhon to anyone. — Mary Beth A.
My leg pain was immediately gone
My first surgery on my L5 S1 was done at Kaiser Sacramento the end of October. By the time I realized the surgery wasn’t successful I was due to start Medicare and lose Kaiser. My husband is a patient of Dr. Sekhon so he started the process of getting me seen as soon as I had my Medicare. I saw him on a Thursday and had surgery the following Monday after he saw the problem on my MRI. My leg pain was immediately gone. I am in my second week of PT, 8 weeks post-op. I know it will take at least a year to be 100% but so much better now. Plus, he said I could golf this summer. I have already recommended him to several friends having constant back pain. And his Physician Assistant Greg is wonderful. — Antoinette D.
Thank you Dr. Sekhon, Curt and Eric for all you have done
During physical therapy post full hip replacement, I had continuous pain that would not abate. My therapist concluded after repeated attempts to solve my discomfort that my hip was not the source of the pain but rather my spine and identified the cause as L2/L3. Joel Peck (my P/T) suggested I contact Dr. Sekhon, as he had patients from Dr. Sekhon and told me Dr. Sekhon was the best. My visits prior to determining that surgery was the only option left, Dr. Sekhon and his staff (Curt/Eric) tried the options available to reduce/end my pain. Prior to surgery, Dr. Sekhon explained in detail exactly what the surgery would entail, the rehab, percent of success of the surgery and the time required to rehab and return to my “normal” life. The day after surgery (11/18/15) I was up and walking the halls with absolutely NO PAIN!!!, needless to say I was beyond happy.
Dr. Sekhon and his staff are without a doubt, the most skilled, professional, caring and concerned group I have ever had the pleasure of being treated. As of 02/11/16, my brace came off, the x-rays showed all was solid and I will begin physical therapy within a couple of day.
I have told others I know with spine/back issues, Dr. Sekhon and staff are the only ones to see. Thank you Dr. Sekhon, Curt and Eric for all you have done, words cannot express the appreciate I have. — Ed C.
I will not hesitate to recommend Dr. Sekhon
Dr. Sekhon’s attitude, demeanor and knowledge at our pre-surgery meeting allayed all my fears and concerns that the surgery was what I needed. His surgeon’s skills were evident in the fact that I had minimal pain from the surgery site after the operation. The stabbing back pain is gone. Follow-up visits to the office were always punctual, compassionate and caring. Problems were always taken care of immediately. I will not hesitate to recommend Dr. Sekhon to anyone I know who has back problems. — Buddy F.
Dr. Sekhon and his staff have been superb
I was seen with Multilevel lumbar degenerative disk disease, severe spinal stenosis with a congenitally narrow canal, L1-L2, L2-L3, L3-L4 and L4-L5. And, peripheral polyneuropathy. Dr. Sekhon and his team performed an L1-L2, L2-L3, L3-L4, L4-L5 decompressive laminectomy and bilateral foraminotomies. After surgery, I was walking as soon as I woke up. Nominal pain – in fact, I left the prescribed meds alone after about a week. As well, my recovery has been fantastic. Dr. Sekhon and his staff have been superb! (A term I never use) Professional. Factual. Very knowledgeable. Communicative and helpful. If you are considering any of Dr Sekhons’ services, I would not hesitate to recommend Sierra Neurosurgery!! — Dave B
Dr. Sekhon and his staff were amazing

Dr. Sekhon I hear only the best about you
Dr. Sekhon, I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Also, would like to say THANK YOU for taking such good care of me during my stay in Reno. Only now I am starting to realize how gifted you really are in performing my surgery. I hear only the best about you from my attending doctors here in MN (Mayo and Minneapolis clinics).
I am very honored to have been in your hands that night. — Elena

Very impressed with my experience at Sierra Neurosurgery and Dr. Sekhon
I’m not one to do testimonials, but I was very impressed with my experience at Sierra Neurosurgery. Dr Sekhon in particular.
I fell and injured my spinal cord at work, and my ability to walk, stand balanced and move around were rapidly diminishing. Day by day my symptoms were getting worse. During my first visit with Dr. Sekhon, he reassured me that he was going to fix the problem. I had some doubt but my fears and concerns were put to rest by his professionalism and confidence. I was ready for surgery. From that first appointment everything moved very rapidly. My pre-op work, MRI’s and preparation happened very quickly. I was ready to move forward.
My surgery was about 12 weeks ago. My experience at the hospital as well as subsequent visits to Sierra Neurosurgery have been excellent. Curt in the office as well as Dr Sekhon are very attentive, concerned and professional. I am extremely grateful to them and their staff. I still have a few symptoms, but day by day I am progressing and I am looking forward to a complete recovery. Something I wouldn’t have thought possible just a short time ago.
Dr. Sekhon and his staff are very friendly and helpful
I was in constant nerve leg pain and putting off surgery for 2 years. I couldn’t walk more then 50 feet without leaning on a shopping cart or sitting down. I’d do my errands in the morning and sit or lay down the rest of the day. I’d heard and seen horror stories from others about their back surgeries but I couldn’t stand the pain anymore. Dr. Sekhon was referred by three different Doctors and Physical Therapists. Dr. Sekhon and his staff are very friendly and helpful. I’m sorry I waited so long to have Dr. Sekhon do the surgery.
— Merrie C
Dr. Sekhon and Greg along with the staff were by far the most caring
I have had back and neck problems for the last 13 years seeing several neurosurgeons throughout the years. Within the last two years my fingers and arms started having a numbness/tingling in them. When it finally came down to being told that I had to have my neck operated on (C4-C7 fusion) this year, I was scared to death to have it done so I decided to have 3 opinions. Fortunately for me, Dr. Sekhon came highly recommended. Dr. Sekhon and his PA Greg saw me within days of seeing my MRI’s/reports, they answered all my questions, concerns, were exceptionally kind, truly cared about me as a patient & never rushed through my appointments. Dr. Sekhon and Greg along with the staff were by far the most caring. I had my surgery in May, the fusion took very nicely and although I’m still healing and going to physical therapy I can’t even say enough good about how pleased I am that I chose Dr Sekhon. A huge thank you to Dr. Sekhon, Greg & the staff for being so caring — Tiffany G
Because of Dr. Khosla I am walking!
In 2006 I was referred to Dr. Khosla after my primary doctor saw my MRI’S. After looking at the MRI’s, he sent me straight to the hospital and did 2 emergency surgeries. Because of Dr. Khosla I am walking!
The entire staff is very professional and very nice. I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Khosla and SIERRA NEUROSURGERY GROUP to everyone. — Angela G
Dr. Vacca, Thanks to you life is good again
Doctor Vacca, My husband Roy and I would like to sincerely thank you for giving us our lives back! My husband having had both upper and lower back reparative surgery and I upper back, can now say for the first time in many years that we know what it is like to be pain free. The newly found mobility that we have experienced since our surgeries has given us a new lease on life. Thank you Dr. Vacca for giving us the opportunity to enjoy activities that we thought we would never be able to do again because of the horrific pain we were experiencing on a daily basis. Thanks to you life is good again!
With gratitude — Diane S
Dr. Leppla, I’m so thankful to have you as my doctor and surgeon
Dr. Leppla, I wish to extend my gratitude; so thankful to have you as my doctor and surgeon. Since my surgery my pain level has been very minimal, if none at all. NO med’s needed! Also, all the in-home care I received was certainly very, very helpful. Everyone involved knew exactly what kind of help I needed to bring me through a quick recovery; this made all the difference.
Lastly I appreciate all of the comfort and help from your office staff.
So many thanks to you all! — Linda R.
I would recommend Dr. Sekhon in the highest degree
I went to Dr Sekhon regarding a bad MRI that I had. The MRI showed a tumor on my spine. Dr Sekhon made me feel comfortable and to trust him and his team. I was so scared. I had surgery within 2 weeks and they found a schwannoma on my spine. After surgery your sore and in pain but within a month, no pain and I feel 100 percent better! His team is the best. I am back at the gym and feel like I use too. I have no side effects from my surgery. I would recommend him in the highest degree. I have to go back in a year and I hope its all good.
I hope to never have to see him again after that, lol.. but if I do he is the best! — Christine N.
I would go back to Dr. Sekhon
Dr. Sekhon was my surgeon for removing of a spinal cord stimulator. From the first time I met him, I felt secure with him and his decisions. The surgery went well and I came home the same day. I felt good. I would go back to Dr. Sekhon if I needed a excellent doctor.
Thank You — Sharon D
Dr. Morgan you gave me hope

I just wanted to thank you for the very good care you gave my husband. He is active, walking well and doing P.T. so he can ski next year.

I just trust Dr. Sekhon with everything
I have never had any trouble since Dr. Sekhon did my back surgery 10 years ago. I would not go to any other back doctor. He his very friendly and listens to your problem. I have seen him recently and I just trust him with everything. The only thing is I have no one to take me to Reno to have a procedure done so I will have it done here.
— Debbie E., Elko
I would recommend Dr. Sekhon and all of his staff
I have been to many doctors and I never had a doctor who was straight up front like Dr. Sekhon. He takes the time to explain everything with you. I also appreciate all of his staff. They are very kind even when your a new patient that they have never seen before. I would recommend them all.
— Mike, NV
I am so grateful to have been referred to Dr. Sekhon
Dr. Sekhon is an incredible surgeon. I knew immediately after waking up from surgery that it was a success and have continued to improve on a daily basis (1 month) after surgery. Dr. Sekhon and his staff are impeccable, concerning every aspect of my care before the surgery and after. I am so grateful to have been referred to his care and would recommend him to anyone in need of an excellent surgeon.
Thank you to all — Timothy K., Reno
I strongly recommend Dr. Sekhon to anyone in need of a Neurosurgeon
I am a 61 year old athlete and I suffered with severe stenosis and spinal nerve impingement for the last 8-10 years. Being an avid outdoor enthusiast who LOVES skiing, hiking and mt biking, then having to stop all of these sports because of the severe pain in both legs and constant cramps in my hamstrings and calves. I was devastated and mentally depressed. I literally could not walk over 100 yards without having to stop…the daily pain became unbearable. Huge doses of pain meds was not an option for me.
The L3-L4-L5-S1 laminectomy preformed by this skillful surgeon gave me back my life, literally. The same day of surgery, I instantly felt the pain relief and the complete elimination of all my leg muscle cramps.
Since my surgery (16 days ago) I have walked pain free for over 40 miles, started my P.T. and now enjoy light gym workouts. I expect a FULL recovery in the next 3-4 week and an awesome much more active life again. The professionalism of his staff and follow-up was impeccable. I strongly recommend Dr. Sekhon to anyone in need of a Neurosurgeon, my only regret was waiting too long to make my decision to have surgery.
— Tahoe Joe, Incline Village
Thank you Dr. Deven Khosla and Dr. Dawn Waters. You gave me my life back.
Last summer I started having problems walking, I was shuffling and had started to walk with my shoulders slumped and sometimes would “get stuck” so I couldn’t lift my one foot to walk properly. I started having problems with my memory and was becoming incontinent by December, 2014. I felt I would need a wheel chair soon. My family doctor and brother-in-law Dr. Mark Brune, ran many tests in an effort to diagnose what was wrong with me. Dr. Brune then determined that I might have Normal Hydrocephalus and referred me to Dr. Deven Khosla at the Sierra Neurosurgery Group. After many more tests, Dr. Khosla diagnosed me with Obstructive Hydrocephalus and scheduled me for brain surgery January 30, 2015. Dr. Waters and Dr. Khosla performed the surgery and I could walk normally two days later. Today I feel like a new man and I will be forever grateful to Dr. Waters and Dr. Khosla for giving me a normal life again.
I saw Dr. Khosla on Tuesday, May 12 at their office in my home town of Bishop, CA. He is a very warm, caring and sincere person, as well as a very competent surgeon. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a good neurosurgeon.
With sincere appreciation. — Robin B., California
Dr. Chris Demers YOU GAVE ME A NEW LEASE ON LIFE!
I am certain you’ve heard this many times, and with no apology I add my name to the list – you gave me a new lease on life. I consider my new back & leg health an opportunity to enjoy a full and active remainder of life, and will not squander it. Your entire staff could not have been kinder or more supportive. Bottom line, I am sure I lucked out in every respect.
Respectfully — Charles N., Carson City, NV
Dr. Sekhon is most likely the reason I am walking today
Dr. Sekhon saw me after I broke my neck Snowboarding in Mammoth, CA. They air lifted me to Reno to have surgery done by Dr. Sekhon. My first surgery was 8 hours after my injury. I ruptured my c5 and split my c6 in half. They had to go in and pull some pieces of bone out of my spinal cord.
I am a 24 year old, very active male. I surf, snowboard, and workout daily. Dr. Sekhon promised me I would be able to do all three again when I was done with my surgery. It has been two months since my surgery and I am thankful for this man everyday of my life. He is most likely the reason I am walking today.
Being in the hospital the first night alone was one of the scariest , loneliest, nights of my life. Everyone in the ICU was AMAZING and made sure I had everything I needed. Dr. Sekhon, and the whole staff at the hospital in Reno, thank you for everything.
— Trevor H
Dr. Lali Sekhon has been a true blessing in my life
Seven years ago I had a bad snowboarding accident in Mammoth, CA and I was diagnosed with a severe L2 burst fracture with spinal cord compression. I needed emergency surgery and was lucky enough to have Dr. Sekhon perform the procedure. From the moment we met them, Dr. Sekhon and his team communicated compassionately and thoroughly to my family and I about what was happening, and always made sure we understood what my plan of care was.
I barely have a scar from the surgery, and am confident that it is because of his care and expertise that I’m walking today. Dr. Sekhon did an amazing job from start to finish, and today I am walking, doing yoga, surfing, started a business, and am enjoying life like I was before my accident.
Dr. Sekhon has followed up with me consistently since the accident. Even though I’m living across the country now, I can contact him as needed with questions and direction for care. He is prompt with providing me answers to many the many questions I had after my procedure, and has been there for me all the way.
I highly recommend Dr. Sekhon to anyone looking for exceptional care, cutting edge medical treatment, and a positive and bright ending to what might have at first looked like a life changing tragedy
— Ana Z
Dr. Sekhon was the only Doctor to pin point where my lower back pain was coming from
Thankfully I didn’t need surgery but if did I would trust him anytime with this procedure. From what I read from the other testimonials he is the best.
— Lynda F
I couldn’t be happier
I was referred to Dr. Sekhon by the orthopedic Dr. our family has been seeing when he determined that the problem wasn’t something to do with a previous procedure. I knew from the first visit with Dr. Sekhon that the only thing on his agenda was to cure my ailments with the least yet most effective and non-invasive procedures. It has worked out wonderful and I couldn’t be happier. I hope anyone with a nerve type of problem will at least talk to Dr. Sekhon before going elsewhere. I think you will also be impressed.
— Ken K
I have been very impressed with the level of care from Dr. Sekhon
I have been a patient of Dr. Sekhon for almost one year and have been very impressed with the level of care received. I have had two lumbar surgeries and both the doctor and his staff have been very supportive and efficient. Greg and Jenna are great assets to his team and make office visits much more tolerable!
— Donna V
I found Dr. Sekhon to be extremely conservative, competent and caring.
He was efficient and wanted a successful outcome. He got me out of the hospital in record time.

I’m so relieved I got a second opinion from Dr. Morgan
Dr. Morgan listens. When Dr. Morgan sat down and asked me to tell him my story I started speaking so quickly he had to tell me to slow down. A previous specialist I had seen listened to me about 10 seconds before jumping to his conclusions based on my MRI, and I thought I’d better talk fast before this doctor also shut me out. But he didn’t. Dr. Morgan encouraged me to describe the timeline of my injury and its progress. Though he certainly deals with cases much more severe than mine, he could tell my return to the sports I love was important to me. The previous specialist had warned me not to speak to a surgeon regarding my condition, claiming I would be “talked into surgery” (when he, himself recommended some rather invasive procedures). But, based on the history of the injury, Dr. Morgan simply suggested a conservative pain management approach for now. I’m so relieved I got a second opinion from this doctor. Not because I received t he diagnosis I was hoping for (in fact, I will likely need surgery at some point in the not-so-distant future), but because Dr. Morgan treated me, a middle-aged mom who loves gardening and sports, with understanding and compassion.
