CHRISTOPHER P. DEMERS, MD, FAANS
NEUROSURGEON
It seems Christopher Demers was destined to become a neurosurgeon. The specialty satisfies his passion for making a positive impact on people’s lives while meeting his need for challenge, complexity, and even beauty, within the medical field.
Dr. Demers, MD, FAANS believes that one of the most valuable qualities he brings to the doctor-patient relationship is honesty. He addresses his patients’ health concerns in a direct, open and compassionate manner. He also works closely and openly with primary care physicians providing them with the access and knowledge they need to continue to manage his patient’s long-term health.
At Sierra Neurosurgery Group, Dr. Demers found a group of like-minded physicians who are focused on individualized patient care and results, not volume and profit. While trained as a general neurosurgeon, Dr. Demers is particularly interested in complex spine procedures and brain tumor treatments. His specialties include fusions, laminectomies, and vertebroplasty, as well as discectomy. In addition to expertise in the use of stereotactic radiosurgery to treat brain tumors, Dr. Demers is skilled in the treatment of various brain conditions including chiari malformation, glioma surgery, hematoma, and trigeminal neuralgia.
Dr. Demers received his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago and completed his residency at Brown University Alpert Medical School in Rhode Island. He is happy to leave those brutal winters behind and call Reno home with his wife and two sons.
