Naomi Albertson, MD
Sports Medicine Physician
From her earliest years, Naomi Albertson, MD, has been fascinated with sports. Her own journey from youth activity through NCAA collegiate competition as a gymnast and tennis player led to her fascination of biomechanics, orthopedics, and athletic performance. She has been intrigued by the advances over the last two decades in sport performance and nutrition which is what led to her exploration of non-surgical treatments of musculoskeletal injuries and a career in sports medicine.
Dr. Albertson’s background includes more than 20 years of clinical experience evaluating and treating musculoskeletal pain and injury in children to seniors. She exemplifies passion for collegiality, collaboration, and treating patients as individuals with unique goals. With her extensive knowledge of bones and muscles, and experience in injury, recovery, and performance, Dr. Albertson works with her patients in a spirit of compassion and openness to help them understand their options and choose the most effective treatment plans available. Additionally, when appropriate, she offers personalized exercise and nutritional programs to restore normal function and improve performance.
Dr. Albertson earned her medical degree (M.D.) from Tufts University, completed her internship in family medicine at Loma Linda University Hospital, followed by a residency at San Jose Medical Center and fellowship in Sports Medicine at Stanford University. She is board certified by the American Academy of Family Medicine and speaks fluent Spanish.
Dr. Albertson is proud to be a Regenexx Physician. All Regenexx physicians are musculoskeletal experts with extensive training and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, as well as complex, image-guided injections of your body’s own healing agents to treat orthopedic issues.
When she’s not treating patients or giving back to the community (and beyond) through teaching and public speaking, she makes plenty of time for skiing, hiking, swimming, and other outdoor exercise in the beautiful natural environment around Reno, often accompanied by her husband, two children and dogs. Dr. Albertson is also the owner of Nevada Sports Science, a company dedicated to using technology to advance sport performance.
