Cory Gentner’s passion for medicine began in childhood, inspired by his physician father’s stories of patient care. This curiosity grew into a fulfilling career, starting as a Trauma Intensive Care Unit nurse in Reno. With a deep interest in neuro-related injuries, Cory also embraced global service through a medical volunteer trip to rural Cambodia, solidifying his commitment to helping others. During the COVID pandemic, he served as a travel nurse before returning to Reno to earn his Doctorate Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Cory thrives in high-intensity environments, finding motivation and purpose in difficult cases, particularly brain-related surgeries. He values the opportunity to connect with patients, learning from their unique stories while providing compassionate care. At Sierra Neurosurgery Group, he’s excited to contribute to a team that goes above and beyond for patients while fostering an environment of learning and collaboration.

Outside work, Cory’s adventurous spirit shines. He’s an avid mountain biker, snowboarder, and athlete, playing volleyball, ice hockey, and pickleball. When not playing sports, he works on DIY projects, enjoys playing piano, and traveling—having visited 26 countries. Cory’s dynamic approach to life and work embodies his dedication to excellence and connection.
