RENO, Nev. – Sierra Neurosurgery announces the addition of Dr. Dawn Waters to their team of 13 physicians. Dr. Waters joins Sierra Neurosurgery Group after recently completing a one-year fellowship focused on skull base tumors and CyberKnife at Stanford University’s department of neurosurgery.
A graduate from Yale University School of Medicine, Dr. Waters finished her general neurosurgery training at the University California, San Diego. Dr. Waters specializes in treating patients with tumors at the skull base, a particularly complicated area where many delicate nerves and blood vessels connect to the brain.
Dr. Waters feels that the biggest reward in her profession is being able to treat patients and relieve their pain.
“People come in with a problem and I can fix it,” said Dr. Waters. “The pain or tumor is gone instantly when they wake up from surgery. There is nothing like it – there is instant gratification.”
Waters recently moved to Reno from the Stanford area with her dog, Cody. When she is not treating patients, Dr. Waters enjoys the outdoors, visiting Lake Tahoe and riding her bike.
Sierra Neurosurgery Group is the largest private practice neurosurgery group on the West Coast. Together, its 13 physicians have a range of expertise including complex brain and spine care, treatment of brain tumors using Cyberknife, motor mapping, pain management and carpal tunnel.
